History
The state of Bulgaria has more than 1300 years history and according to the statistics, it is ranked third (after Greece and Italy) for it is number of archaeological monuments. the earliest inhabitants of the present bulgarian lands were the thracians, which is the second biggest tribe in the ancient world, after an indians. The most famous thracians were spartacus and Orpheus.
The history of varna dates back to the remote ancient epochs; the first discovered flint instruments of production in the region are from 12 thousand years ago. from this time dates also the world-famous chalcolithic necropolis, in which the most antique processed gold in the world was been found. The city was mentioned for the first time with the name odessus by the ancient greek historians. as early as in the third century, there were temples here, a water-main, roads and baths. Later the city was inhabited by the slavs, which gave to it the name of Varna.

The traditional local dishes are a blend of mediterranean and oriental dishes, all prepared from fresh ingredients from the local area. Currency
The currency of Bulgaria is the bulgarian lev (1eur = 1. 95lev) which is already pegged to the Euro. Credit cards and travelers checks are becoming also widely accepted.

Most of the shops are open mondays to sundays from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. North Black Sea coast is perfect for anyone who enjoys a dose of retail therapy. Typical keepsakes for visitors are usually lacework, embroidery, basketry and hand-painted pottery where the quality way exceeds the prices.

They host many cultural and sport activities, as well as conferences and seminars. Due to ability of curative mineral springs and modern recreation and spa centers in the resorts one can balneological treatment with relaxation at the seaside.
To the south of Varna are situated small but picturesque settlements such as Byala and Obzor preferred by those looking for quiet and pleasant recreation away from the crowded, pretentious and luxury resorts.
